A-Level Results 2023: Much to Celebrate!
Today we celebrated the amazing achievements of our Upper Sixth Form pupils in their A-Level results. Following a challenging few years, these impressive results reflect the hard work, motivation and dedication of our pupils, and the staff and parents who supported them along the way.

The broad range of university courses and pathways that our Class of 2023 will be pursuing speaks to the diversity and quality of learning they have experienced while at Ibstock.
Lucy Read will be pursuing Liberal Arts at Bates College in the US, while Olivia Brett will be going to The University of Tulsa on a NCAA D1 Rowing Scholarship.
Alex Hooper (pictured with fellow Leaver Don Ng) achieved three A* grades and will start a Degree Apprenticeship in Aerospace Engineering at Airbus in September.
Olivia Kenny will be heading off to The University of Edinburgh to do International Business after achieving three A grades in Mathematics, Economics and Geography.
Melis Buberka, one of our former prefects, is looking forward to studying Law at The University of Exeter, including a placement year abroad, with a view to a career in commercial and corporate law. She took Mathematics, History and Economics for her A-Levels.
‘I was nervous about today but now I am really happy. I was feeling confident but still wasn’t sure how things would turn out.’

Don Ng achieved two A* and one A in Physics, Chemistry and Biology, and will be applying to study Medicine next year. He is planning to take a year off to volunteer with the NHS before commencing his studies.
Rosie Wright, former Deputy Head Girl, (pictured below with our Director of Sixth Form, Ms Hemmings) will be taking a gap year before reading English Literature at The University of Leeds. She took English, Psychology and History for her A-Levels and achieved an A grade in all three subjects.
Rosie reflected on her time at Ibstock saying ‘I’ve just been really happy here and I feel you can’t really achieve these types of grades if you’re not happy and motivated at School.’
Headmaster Chris Wolsey congratulated our pupils on their achievements, saying:
There has been so much to celebrate today, particularly given the uniquely demanding situation which our A-Level candidates this year have faced. It’s an enormous tribute to their collective resilience that they’ve returned such encouraging grades and I’m certain that they’ll go on to thrive in the top-flight universities to which they now rightly proceed. We shall miss them a great deal, but we couldn’t be prouder – of them and their achievement, and also of our brilliant staff, who’ve supported them at every stage of the journey.
Of course, a first-class education means so much more than just exam results, as important as they are. Our leaving pupils have contributed to school life in just about every conceivable way – right across our co-curricular programme, most definitely, but also in terms of the partnerships which we share with other organisations. It’s been a privilege to work with them and to see them growing into the young adults which they are. They’ve really made a positive difference and they’ve truly lived up to our community’s commitment to others. Today, then, we’ve celebrated not only their A-Levels, but everything which they’ve brought to us more widely as well – they’ve been superb.
