We are delighted that you are considering joining Ibstock. There are a range of scholarships on offer to exceptionally talented pupils in our Senior School.
All pupils at Ibstock are encouraged to develop their talents and interests through many different channels, benefiting from a supportive environment and top-class facilities.
Our comprehensive Scholarship programme will enable you to enhance your talents and skills, continuing to grow in confidence and ability.
Scholarships are a privilege awarded to pupils who have shown outstanding engagement and ability in their chosen field and who demonstrate the potential to build upon their achievements.
Our awards offer:
- an elite programme which will further develop your talents and skills, and encourage collaboration with other Scholars
- opportunities to showcase your achievements within and outside of the School community
- the chance to lead, mentor and inspire other pupils within your area of specialism
- a fee concession of up to 10% for Scholars and up to 5% for Exhibitioners*
*Recipients of a Richard Hastie-Smith Award will be granted a 7.5% fee remittance (Scholarship) or 2.5% (Exhibition) and paid individual tuition at School on a nominated instrument (or voice)

Academic Scholarships
Awarded to those who demonstrate outstanding academic potential across our curriculum.
There is a range of academic scholarships:
Achieve AwardsAwarded to those who have demonstrated outstanding academic potential as part of our Entrance Examination process. |
STEM AwardsAwarded to those who have demonstrated outstanding potential in all areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths through their performance in the STEM Award Examination. |
Innovation AwardsAwarded to those who have demonstrated outstanding achievement, or potential, in the areas of Computer Science, Fine Art and Design & Technology. |
Pupils in receipt of these Scholarships will take part in a programme which includes:

| Mentoring |
| A Staff Mentor will work with individual Scholars on their development and guide them towards internal and external opportunities such as lectures, competitions and trips. |
| Scholars' Journal |
| Throughout the course of their Scholarship journey, pupils will keep a digital journal reflecting on their activities, leadership and engagement with their areas of specialism within and outside of School. This will be regularly reviewed with their mentor. |
| Scholars' Exhibition |
| At the end of the academic year, Scholars will present their achievements at a showcase event. |
| Lecture Programme |
| There is a half-termly evening lecture which Scholars will be expected to attend, and which will be open to the School community. Scholars may choose to deliver a lecture as part of the programme. |
| Extended Programme |
| Scholars will be invited to attend a variety of other events throughout the year, such as Q&A lunches with visiting speakers. They are encouraged to act as ambassadors for their areas of specialism, for example, by delivering assemblies. |
Expectations
Academic Scholars will be required to be present at Open Events in order to showcase their subject areas. They will be expected to represent the School in external competitions and to take a prominent role in delivering a part of the co-curriculum. This may include helping to deliver some sessions, proposing and running new clubs and societies, and supporting other pupils at subject clinics.
Expressive Arts
Awarded to those who, as part of the audition and interview process, demonstrate outstanding potential in either Dance, Music or Drama.
Pupils in receipt of an Expressive Arts award will take part in a programme which includes:

| Expressive Arts Scholars will have at least one dedicated trip per year, which they will have a part in designing. Scholars will participate in specialist workshops during the year which will employ external providers to work on areas of development. For example music scholars will work with Berkley Ensemble, Drama Scholars will work with frantic assembly and Dance Scholars will work with English National Ballet. |
| Mentoring |
| A Staff Mentor will work with individual Scholars on their development and guide them towards internal and external opportunities such as lectures, competitions and trips. Expressive Scholars will have the opportunity to perform in a range of productions and concerts. |
| Scholars' Journal |
| Throughout the course of their Scholarship journey, pupils will keep a digital journal reflecting on their activities, leadership and engagement with their areas of specialism within and outside of School. This will be regularly reviewed with their mentor. |
| Scholars' Exhibition |
| At the end of the academic year, Scholars will present their achievements at a showcase event. |
| Performance |
| As well as a range of Music Scholar recitals, Scholars will perform in the Sutherland Concert, a gala event, alongside the Berkeley Ensemble which is our professional ensemble in residence. |
Expectations
Expressive Arts Scholars will play a leading role in the Expressive Arts across the whole School and will act as role models for other pupils in terms of their commitment to performance, practice and preparation. It is likely that they will be involved in House Competitions, as well as in performances or community events. They will be expected to show leadership in delivering and innovating in the co-curriculum. They will be required to be present at Open Events, to represent the School and to showcase their subject areas. Scholars would normally be expected to take a GCSE in their area of specialism.
Impact Awards
Awarded to those who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to the local and wider community, and who have shown exceptional potential to work with the School to bring about positive change.
Pupils in receipt of an Impact Award will take part in a programme which includes:

Expectations
Impact Scholars will be expected to take a proactive role in devising and running fundraising initiatives in the School:
- Be a key member of Impact Club, and attend weekly and take part on our trips into the community
- To support the school's fundraising activities, by advertising these and encouraging peers to get involved, as well as creating new initiatives
- To contribute regularly to some of the School’s communications, such as pupil-led newspapers or podcasts, showcasing new initiatives and outlining the School’s activities in the local and wider community
Sports Excellence Awards
Awarded to those who have demonstrated potential for outstanding contributions to the majority of sports on offer at Ibstock Place School. Sports Excellence Scholars will have already competed to at least club standard.
Pupils in receipt of an Sports Excellence Award will take part in a programme which includes:

| Sports Scholars will play a key role in an extensive programme of fixtures against competitive schools and clubs. There will be opportunities to perform in state-of-the-art facilities through our links with external clubs. Scholars will be offered opportunities to visit professional sports grounds with accompanying masterclasses. They will also have the chance to take part in visits to universities where they may experience Sports Science labs. |

| Extended programme |
| Sports Scholars will be given opportunities to develop their knowledge of sports nutrition, to be part of developing fitness programmes and will be invited to presentations given by a range of experts, including sports professionals and sports psychologists. Scholars will participate in high-quality weekly training sessions within their preferred sport, run by elite coaches. They will also have access to links with major clubs, who will support training provision. Scholars will take part in personalised strength and conditioning sessions run by external agencies on two mornings each week. |
Expectations
Scholars will be expected to represent the School in their chosen sport and in other sports where necessary. They will be required to avail themselves of the opportunities outlined in the programme above and will play an active role in inspiring other members of the School community by being positive role models and by attending Open Events.
How to apply
Scholarships are awarded to pupils in Senior 7 (age 11+) and Sixth Form (16+) and will typically last for the duration of their time at the school, subject to maintaining sufficiently high academic standards.
External applicants should ensure they have registered by the deadline and will receive further details and an application form through the Open Apply portal. For 11+ applicants, the scholarship application form will be sent to those who have sucessfully passed through the first stage of the assessment process.
Internal applicants in Prep 6 and Senior 11 are welcome to apply for our scholarships and will receive further details of how to apply through the school.
