International Women's Day 2024
Happy International Women's Day!
We celebrated International Women's Day on 8 March with purple accessories and a party during lunchtime including cake, music, henna tattoos, a quiz and dancing. Our Poet Laureate Emily read a special poem and two of our young artists designed custom International Women's Day badges specially for the occasion.
As the week progressed, we extended the festivities by inviting Laura Bates, BEM, the award-winning activist, writer, speaker, journalist and founder of the Everyday Sexism Project, an ever-increasing collection of over 200,000 testimonies of gender inequality. Pupils from the Prep School all the way to Upper Sixth Form were deeply engaged in her talks regarding everyday sexism and had the opportunity to ask questions at the end of the sessions.
During lunch, Fem Soc members, including friends and staff, attended a packed book signing and Naomi (Senior 10) presented Laura with a portrait created for International Women’s Day.
Thank you to our wonderful Librarian, Ms Cleaves, for organising such an amazing celebration!
